Women tie for top spot, Men 2nd in season-opening Beloit Early Bird

Roscoe, IL -- The Beloit College Cross Country team opened their season Tuesday with the Beloit Early Bird Meet, run at Kieselburg Forest Preserve.  The Women tied Edgewood College for first in the four-team race while the Men were second to MWC-foe Carroll University.

Emma Koenig led a 1-2-3 finish for the Buccaneer Women with a seven-second win over teammate Ellie Waddle.  Anna Wenzel was third, Melissa Pelkey 15th and Caitlin Paterson 16th to round out the top five.

Jacob Gray paced the Beloit Men with a third-place finish followed by brother George Gray in fourth, Forrest Lloyd in fifth, Josh Smith in eighth and Daniel Arkes in 12th.

The Buccaneers are now off until September 12 when they compete at the Midwest Classic at UW-Parkside in Kenosha.
