The Beloit College baseball team was swept by the Green Knights of St. Norbert College in a pair of games played on the campus of Monmouth College in Monmouth, Illinois due to poor field conditions caused by the wintery weather over the weekend.
The Bucs were bested 8-3 in the opener before falling 10-8 in the nightcap despite outhitting their opponent.
Beloit’s offense struggled to gain momentum at the plate in game one totaling just five hits in the contest and scoring all three runs in the final frame. In the bottom of the ninth, Terrance Cribbs notched a two-RBI single to plate two runs after a balk scored the first run for the Bucs.
Mike Weeden suffered the loss on the mound for Beloit in the game.
The Bucs outhit the Green Knights 15-7 but issued 13 free bases to SNC batters while leaving 13 Bucs on base.
Keith Haina took the loss on the mound. Offensively, Nick Schmidt led Beloit with three hits in six at bats. Jeremy Dutton, Ethan Conley, Drew Freitag, Mark Christine and Cribbs each tallied two hits in the contest.
