The Beloit College baseball team drew six walks and tallied nine hits to top Rockford 6-1 on the road Thursday night.
Seven Buccaneers saw time on the mound combining to allow just six hits and one run in the game.
Jalen Davis got the Beloit offense going drawing a one-out walk in the top of the first. Davis advanced to second, then third on two wild pitched. Bronson Balholm put the ball on the ground to short allowing Davis to score for the first run of the game.
The Regents tallied the equalizer putting together a hit batter, wild pitch, balk and sacrifice fly to plate the tying run.
After three scoreless innings, the Bucs struck again. Hunter Fujutani tagged a one-out single down the left field line. Mark Christine drew a walk and Nick Schmidt followed with a RBI single to center field. Davis reached on a fielding error that loaded the bases and another Buc touched the plate when Jeremy Dutton took a base on balls to give Beloit a 3-1 lead.
The Bucs added a single insurance run in the top of the sixth and two more in the top of the seventh for the final.
Schmidt and Davis each tallied two hits in the game to lead the Bucs offensively. Jamie Huntley registered the start on the mound and a no-decision with one inning of work. David Hlawek took over for the second followed by Justin Kopech who was credited with the win in two innings on the mound. Drew Freitag, Luke Brennan, Zachary Miller and Brice Call also saw action on the mound in the game.
The Bucs will head to Ripon for a pair of games Saturday beginning at 1 p.m. before hosting the Red Hawks Sunday. That twinbill is also slated for a 1 p.m. start.
