The Beloit College baseball team recorded 13 hits and Danny Belling tossed a shutout in a 7-0 win over Curry College in the RussMatt Invitational Thursday.
The Bucs opened the scoring in the bottom of the first as Brice Call led off with a single up the middle. Jalen Davis followed with a single of his up through the left side. A fielder’s choice left runners on the corners and Jeremy Dutton advanced into scoring position on a passed ball. A walk drawn by Ethan Conley loaded the bases and Terrance Cribbs came up with a big sacrifice fly to right field that plated two runs. The Buccaneers’ third run of the inning came on a Bronson Balholm single to left field in the next at bat.
That was all Beloit would need in the game as the defense blanked Curry but the Bucs added insurance runs in the bottom of the fourth, two in the sixth and one more in the eighth.
Five BC hitters notched multiple hits in the game including three off the bats of Davis and Dutton and two from Call, Conley and Balholm.
Belling went the distance on the mound scattering four hits over nine innings of work while striking out two in the complete game shutout.
Beloit is slated to face Colby-Sayer in a doubleheader Friday afternoon at the Lake Myrtle Sports Complex in Auburndale, Florida. The Bucs will wrap up their spring trip Saturday morning against Rutgers-Camden.
