Grinnell, IA – Beloit College Senior First Baseman Kam Sallee earned his second straight All-Midwest Conference Baseball North Division honor while juniors Mark Christine and Jeremy Dutton and sophomore Jalen Davis are all first-time honorees as the MWC released the 2017 All-MWC Baseball Team today.
Sallee, from Huntley, Illinois, is second on the team in hitting and sixth in the Conference at .387 with 40 RBIs, third-most in the league, heading into the Conference Tournament this weekend. He has also scored 20 runs, hit 15 doubles, second in Beloit history, with a .986 OPS. He currently ranks in the top five in nine career categories for the Buccaneers.
Christine, a shortstop from Huntington Beach, California (Mater Dei), is hitting .286 with 28 runs scored and 22 RBIs, carrying a .390 on-base percentage. Defensively he has 101 assists, the second straight season with 100-plus fielding assists.
Dutton, a catcher from Plainfield, Illinois (East), is hitting .321 with 14 doubles and 26 RBIs. He also has a .512 percentage throwing out would-be base-stealers, the second-highest in a season.
Davis, a right fielder from Chicago (De LeSalle), leads the team, and is fifth in the MWC, with a .389 average. He has scored 40 runs, third in the Conference, with 33 RBIs. His 56 hits ranked second in the league and are the tied for the second-most in a season in Beloit history.
The Bucs head into the Tournament on an eight-game winning streak and a 17-17-1 overall record. They finished MWC play with an 11-5-1 mark, second in the North Division. The 11 wins mark the most in Conference play since they won 12 in 2011 and the fourth time they’ve won double-figure games in Conference play.
