Grinnell, IA -- Jeremy Dutton, a junior catcher for the Beloit College Baseball team from Plainfield, Illinois (East) has been named the Midwest Conference Player of the Week for the week ending March 19. The Conference Office announced the recognition Monday afternoon.
In a split of their non-conference doubleheader with Milwaukee School of Engineering on Saturday at the Woodside Sports Complex in Mauston, Wisconsin, Dutton, playing all 25 innings in the two extra-inning games, went 5-for-8 with five runs scored, two doubles, two RBI and a 1.602 OPS. He was also 3-of-4 on stolen bases while throwing out three out of four would-be base stealers.
On the season, he is hitting .316 with a team-leading 10 runs scored and four stolen bases (4-5). He also has three doubles and four RBI.
The Buccaneers open their home season this weekend with a pair of doubleheaders at The Ballpark at Strong Stadium, hosting Knox College on Saturday and Wisconsin Lutheran College on Sunday. Action begins at 1:00 p.m. both days.
