Buccaneer Baseball Gets It Done On the Field...And In the Classroom

July 20, 2016

Greensboro, NC -- The 2016 Beloit College Baseball team, under long-time head coach Dave DeGeorge, enjoyed success on the field this past season with their second Midwest Conference Championship.  And this week they were recognized for also getting it done in the classroom, earning the American Baseball Coaches Association Team Academic Excellence Award.

The 2015-16 ABCA Team Academic Excellence Award honors high school and college programs that posted a GPA over 3.0 on a 4.0 scale for the academic year. Over 140 high school and college programs were recognized with the inaugural award, including 33 from the NCAA Division III ranks.

The Bucs were one of three Midwest Conference teams honored - along with Carroll University and Grinnell College - and one of only three Wisconsin collegiate teams to be recognized.

Beloit had one of the best seasons in their long history in 2016, finishing 27-14 overall, tied for the second-most victories in a season.  In addition to the win total and their MWC Championship, Beloit shared the Midwest Conference North Division title and advanced to the NCAA Division III Baseball Tournament for just the second time in school history.
