Beloit, WI -- The Beloit College Baseball team will open their second trip to the NCAA Division III Midwest Regional against host and #1-seed UW-La Crosse on Wednesday at 1:15 p.m. at Copeland Park in La Crosse.
The Bucs (27-12), the #8-seed, come into the Tournament on a three-game winning streak, all three of those wins coming in the Midwest Conference Tournament last weekend that clinched the MWC's automatic NCAA bid.
Like the Buccaneers, the Eagles (34-8), the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Tournament Champions, won three straight last weekend in the WIAC Tournament and have won four straight overall.
Also in the field are #3-seed North Central College (30-10); #4-seed College of St. Scholastica (31-9), who won the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference championship; #5-seed St. John's College (28-12), who won the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference championship; #6-seed Luther College (32-12), who won the Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference championship; and #7-seed Kalamazoo College (23-18-1), who won the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Conference championship.
A win by Beloit in the opener puts them in a winners bracket game against the winner of St. Scholastica and St. John's at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. A loss puts them in a losers bracket game vs. the loser of the same game at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday morning.
The Regional runs through Saturday, May 21, with the Championship Game set for 3:30 p.m. that day. If a second Championship Game is needed it will be played on Sunday, May 22, at a time to be decided.
The Regional Champion advances to the NCAA Division III World Series, scheduled for May 27-31 at Neuroscience Group Field at Fox Cities Stadium in Appleton.
