After graduating from Beloit, I lived in Bali for a year studying traditional sculpture techniques from local artists while teaching French to Balinese adults. Bali lived up to its cliché and more; I somehow managed to get invited to Ashley Bickerton’s house party (in celebration of his latest show at the Tate) where Stefan Sagmeister was also milling about, and became friends with a gallery owner who reminisced of hanging out with David Bowie. However, amongst the many surreal experiences I had, I think my favorite moments were taking long motorbike rides through the mountains with local artist Made Aswino Aji, and working in the dusty roadside workshop with the local sculptors.
By the end of my one year, I had a solo show at a contemporary art gallery in Ubud, and volunteered for the first-ever TEDxUbud. After Bali, I completed my Master of Fine Arts at Tufts University (partnered with the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston), as well as a Human-Computer Interaction Certificate. I currently work as a UX/UI Designer at a research and design firm in Boston, and am planning a new body of work that stems from my senior show at Beloit.
