Samuel James Campbell

     Samuel J. Campbell has been a member of The Board of Trustees of Beloit College since 1938, and served with distinction as Chairman of the Board from 1958 to 1963 when he was elected an Honorary Life Trustee. A graduate of Stanford University, Mr. Campbell is a native of Mt. Carroll, Illinois, and formerly served as Chairman of the Board of that community's Shimer College. He also holds advisory positions with the University of Arizona in Tucson where he and Mrs. Campbell have a winter home. Mr. Campbell has a distinguished record as a civic and business leader, with interests in publishing, printing, insurance and banking enterprises in various parts of the nation. He also has been a director of major business firms, hospitals and other civic, cultural and philanthropic organizations.

Samuel J. Campbell died September 3, 1981.
