Alumni and Faculty Files
The Archives collects a variety of material related to individual alumni, from their days as students to their accomplishments after college. Whenever possible, the Archives will obtain letters, diaries, and personal papers, particularly related to Beloit College. The Alumni files also include clippings, publications, photographs and other memorabilia.
The bulk of this material is housed within several filing cabinets in individual acid-free file folders, alphabetized by last name. Women alums are filed by their names as students. When too much material has accumulated for file folders, it is housed alphabetically in acid-free boxes in the Alumni/Faculty section of the stacks. A "dummy" folder is placed in the cabinet for referral.
These include material related to individual faculty, administration, staff and trustees. Of primary importance are personal materials such as letters, diaries and papers. However, like the Alumni files, the bulk consists of clippings, publications, photographs and other memorabilia. Whenever possible, materials related to the academic life of the College are collected.
Files of any of these people who are also alumni of the College are filed in the Alumni section and "dummy" folders are placed in the Faculty files. Whenever there is too large an amount of material for the Faculty filing cabinets, it is boxed and placed in the Alumni/Faculty section of the stacks. A"dummy" folder is placed in the cabinet for referral.
