Wilfrid Asa Rowell
Excerpt from: The Alumnus (October 1950)
WILFRID ASA ROWELL has been one of the most active members of the Board over a long period of years. His service on the Board began in 1917 and continued until 1947, when he was made an honorary member for life.
Mr. Rowell was one of the leading figures of his undergraduate days - editor of The Round Table, speaker, class officer -- and has continued his associations with the College. He taught from 1900 to 1903, was chaplain from 1942 to 1946, and in the fall of 1948 returned as acting Dean of the Chapel.
In 1906 he obtained his B.D. from Yale and he has held pastorates at New Haven, Beloit, and Hinsdale. In the latter Chicago suburb he was pastor of the Union Church from 1918 to 1942, when he retired and moved to Beloit. He is also trustee of Chicago Theological Seminary.
Mrs. Rowell died in 1945. Their daughter, Teresina, was a member of the Class of 1929. Other relatives have also attended Beloit.
