One of Beloit College’s earliest and best-known buildings is returning to the college thanks to the generosity of two local donors. Emerson Hall, built in 1897 as the women’s dormitory, will be renovated in the coming year and reopened as a residence hall in the fall of 2016, the college announced today as a part of its 2015 commencement exercises.
In conjunction with Beloiters Unite! events from the east to the west (see photos on Facebook and Twitter (@beloitalumni) #belunite), Spring Day on campus, Earth Day, and more, the college hosted its first Giving Day. Sailing past the goal of $22,000 for April 22, totals for the day were upwards of $40,000. Over 250 alumni, parents, friends, and students participated in this day and it couldn’t have been done without all of you. Thank you for giving, but also, thank you for sharing your love of Beloit, your support, and your time.
These dollars go directly to supporting the college’s Beloiter Fund—annual fund—and providing resources in way of campus preservation, scholarships, alumni connections through the senior class gift, and in all of the places and spaces in between through ‘where the need is greatest.’ Thank you. Detailed overview available soon!
