Alert slips are just that--“an alert” to students encouraging them to make changes in order to improve in the class.
Faculty members are encouraged to send an alert slip regarding any concerns they have about a student’s performance as soon as they notice one. These alerts share information with students about their performance in class, how they can improve it, and possible resources that may assist in that improvement.
The student, the advisor(s), and the Advising office all receive a copy of the alert slip. Students are encouraged to incorporate the recommendations in the alert slip, including reaching out to the professor and advisor(s).
Advisors are encouraged to reach out to the student to discuss a plan for moving forward.
Faculty members can send an alert slip by going into the Portal and finding the class list. The alert slip is an option to the right of each student's name.
