You became a leader in the specialized field of reinsurance calling for a high degree of specialized knowledge and executive ability.

1962 Distinguished Service Citation

Your alma mater is proud of your distinguished career in the field of insurance. As president of Excess Underwriters, Inc., in New York City from 1929 to 1941 you became a leader in the specialized field of reinsurance calling for a high degree of specialized knowledge and executive ability. Your continued success in the same field, and most recently your ten-year presidency of the American Mutual Reinsurance Company in Chicago, is evidence of the high regard in which you have been held by other leaders in your profession. You have contributed further to the progress of the industry through your many speeches, articles in trade journals, and most recently and notably for your activities relating insurance coverage to the future growth of atomic energy. As you return to your native Wisconsin to help classmates celebrate the 45th anniversary of their graduation, Beloit College is pleased to present you this Distinguished Service Citation.
