1984 Distinguished Service Citation

Financial Executive - Civic Leader

You credit much of your success as a leader in business, community, and public affairs to the lasting influence of your mentors at Beloit, which also is the Alma Mater of your parents, three brothers, sister, and wife. Your life and work demonstrate that scholarship is enhanced by a sense of humor coupled with a sincere sense of humility. As a respected financial executive with Sears, Roebuck and Company for more than three decades, you direct shareholder relations and services and have custodial responsibility for all shareholder and bondholder records. Your stature as a civic servant is equally as distinguished; the leadership you exhibited in such widely diversified areas as historical society, hospital, mass transit, home owner, church, bi-centennial, and commuter activity earned you recognition as Citizen of the Year in Glenview, Illinois, which you also served as village president, trustee, and member of both the Planning and the Police and Fire commissions. In testimony to your example of how good, full, and useful one’s life can be, Beloit College takes pleasure in presenting you this Distinguished Service Citation on the occasion of your 40th Class Reunion.
