Three senior directing students debut their work as part of the Beloit College Season. The Student Directed One Acts gives Theatre students the opportunity and space to direct. With the support and guidance of the Theatre and Dance Faculty and Staff, student directors curate a thought-provoking theatrical experience while gaining hands-on experience through creative leadership roles.

This year the Department of Theatre and Dance has been working towards providing students innovative ways to produce performances despite limitations presented by COVID-19. Throughout the course of the year, all performances have been presented in an online format, whether it be pre-recorded dance pieces or performances produced entirely over Zoom. For the Student Directed One Acts, and Hamlet later this spring, Alicia Bailey devised a pod system for performers to use while filming zoom productions that gives the production team the ability to mitigate some of the challenges presented by producing zoom theatre.

While this new and unconventional platform has created an array of new challenges for the students, their insightful directorial abilities have flourished with creative solutions and conscientious storytelling, making for an entertaining and clever show.
