Last month, Professor of Law and Chair of Political Science and African Studies Rachel Ellett sat on a panel for the book, “International Courts and the African Woman Judge: Unveiled Narratives,” which she contributed a chapter to.

The book examines the lives of seven African women judges, discusses the misconceptions surrounding their personal agency and deep dives into the barriers they face on the bench while looking critically at diversity in the judiciary.

“It is well-documented that women lack access to the informal networks, the ‘boys clubs’ to access opportunity,” said Rachel at the panel.

While in Washington D.C., Rachel was able to catch up with Rosa Ennison’17 (pictured together above), an intern at the prestigious Woodrow Wilson Center.
