“Return to Campus Requirements” letter sent to Beloit students

Dear Students,

We are looking forward to welcoming you back to campus in a couple of weeks. To ensure that we have a healthy start to the semester, we are requiring all members of our campus community to submit a negative COVID-19 test before arriving on campus.

Tests may be either a rapid antigen test (at-home test) or a PCR test. These should be taken between one to six days prior to your arrival date. Please make sure that you are testing within this time frame. Tests administered more than six days before your arrival date will not be accepted. You will not be allowed to move onto campus without a completed Covid-19 test. For students who have been on campus all summer, please use the date that you plan to move into your fall housing as your arrival date and test accordingly.

All test results should be submitted via this Google form. If your test is negative, you are fine to proceed with your arrival plans. If your test comes back positive, please do not come to campus yet. Seek medical care with your own primary health care provider as needed. Then, please contact the Health and Wellness Center by phone 608-363-2331 for further instructions. If you have previously had and recovered from Covid-19 within the past 90 days, you will not be required to test, but still need to complete the Google form.

The Task Force continues to watch the ever-changing landscape of COVID-19. Our commitment to the health and safety of our community has served us well throughout the pandemic as has our high vaccination rate. Disease can spread quickly at a small residential college and the college has an interest in protecting individuals and the campus community from the devastating consequences that can result when a student contracts one of these illnesses.

Due to these priorities, we are requiring all students to provide proof of full vaccination against COVID-19. Please refer to the COVID-19 Vaccine Policy for full details of the policy. We recognize this is a late development and apologize for any undue burden or inconvenience this places on our students and their families.

Proof of full vaccination and appropriate booster for students is required by the date of return to campus for the academic year, including the maker of the vaccine and dates of vaccination. This documentation should be submitted to the Health and Wellness portal as part of the required student health forms. This requirement applies equally to those who have already had COVID-19 or have the presence of antibodies.

Students may request an exemption from the vaccination requirement for medical reasons, religious beliefs, or strongly held philosophical objections. Students seeking an exemption should contact the Health and Wellness Center, healthcenter@beloit.edu or 608-363-2331.

Be well,
The COVID-19 Task Force
