Friday, April 11 8 p.m. Eaton Chapel ***** This concert is open to the public & voluntary contributions |
The Wisconsin Baroque Ensemble (WBE) will perform on Friday, April 11, at 8 p.m., in Eaton Chapel, on the Beloit College campus. All are welcome and voluntary contributions will be accepted at the door.
A portion of the program will feature works by Barbara Strozzi and Heinrich Schütz, two 17th century Baroque composers. Schütz will be respresented by a vocal duet with accompaniment, “Habe deine Lust an den Herren” (“Have your Desire in the Lord”) and a vocal solo, “Was hast Du Verwirket” (“What have You Accomplished?”). Strozzi will be represented by a solo cantata, “Salve sancta caro Dei.” Mimmi Fulmer and Consuelo Sanudo, internationally renowned performing and recording artists, will perform the vocals in these pieces.
The instrumentalists will offer a variety of solos and chamber music. Anton TenWolde will perform Francesco Gemeniani’s “Sonata for Solo Cello,” with accompaniment by Duncan Pledger on viola da gamba and Max Yount on harpsichord.
Two different trio-sonatas will feature the celebrated Baroque flutists Brett Lipshutz and Monica Steger.
