Road Trip Estonia with Larry White (Full - wait list only)
July 27-August 8, 2008
estimated $1,550 plus airfare**

Join Larry White, Beloit College professor of psychology, for a one-of-a-kind travel experience through Estonia.

The trip will appeal to travelers who like to walk, who like to interact with locals, who like to see and do things that most tourists never see or do, and who like to learn about the history, language, music, and culture of a place. You won’t have a professional tour guide—Larry White will be the guide! And he’ll invite his Estonian friends to join you as you hike through a bog, spend an evening at a jazz club, or do the Estonian sauna experience (complete with honey—don’t ask).

This unique adventure should appeal to alumni who prefer active vacations and don’t require four-star hotels and restaurants. Each participant will book their own flights and pay for their own meals, so the total cost will vary for each person. Some will want to prepare their own meals with ingredients from local markets, and others will want to try a different restaurant every night.

A detailed itinerary hasn't been fully developed yet, but the basic plan is to rent a 9-seat minibus and drive around the country, staying here and there for a couple days at a time. To read more about this fantastic opportunity, click here.

Village Life in Ireland
September 9-17, 2008
Starting at $2,695, plus airfare*

On this delightful nine-day itinerary, immerse yourself in Ireland’s timeless charm and beauty and its vibrant Celtic heritage. Begin your sojourn amid the lakes of County Kerry, where you will experience the legendary warmth of Irish hospitality in the traditional Cahernane House Hotel in the tranquil lakefront town of Killarney. From here, explore southwest Ireland’s enchanting countryside on a lake cruise and a ride in a traditional jaunting car. Spend a day on the ruggedly scenic Dingle Peninsula, a stronghold of Celtic culture and the ancient Gaelic language. Continue to Dublin, stopping en route at historic Blarney Castle and in lively Cork city. Enjoy three nights in Ireland’s capital in the elegant Brooks Hotel, located within walking distance of fashionable Grafton Street, St. Stephen’s Green and Trinity College. In Dublin, follow in the footsteps of such literary giants as Jonathan Swift, James Joyce and Sean O’Casey; view the magnificent Book of Kells, a masterpiece of medieval manuscript illumination; and visit the 18th-century Palladian mansion of Powerscourt, renowned for its beautifully landscaped formal gardens, considered to be some of the finest in Europe. Your appreciation of this nation’s unique history and culture will be enhanced through a custom-designed program of exclusive lectures and enrichments, including a presentation on architectural preservation by a resident expert and a specially arranged Village Forum with local residents that will shed insight into life in rural Ireland.

Space is limited, so make your reservation early! Contact our Thomas P. Gohagen & Company® representatives at 800-922-3088 with questions regarding this tour.
