HOW TO APPLY

1. Beloit College Financial Aid Application

If you have applied to Beloit, the Beloit College Financial Aid Application was enclosed in our initial acknowledgment letter to you.  This financial aid application, along with signed, dated copies of the 2007 Parent and Student Federal Tax Returns (including all Schedules & W-2's), should be completed and sent to the Office of Admissions no later than March 1, 2008.

2. Complete the 2008-09 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) after January 1, 2008.

The FAFSA form is available online and should be submitted for processing after January 1, 2008, preferably when you and your parents have completed your 2007 federal taxes. Make sure that you designate Beloit College (code # 003835) as a recipient of the processed copy of the federal analysis.

You are encouraged to file the FAFSA online in order to expedite the processing of your financial aid application. For extensive information on financial aid processes and resources, you may want to visit The Financial Aid Information Page.  If you don’t have access to the online version of the FAFSA, you may order a copy by calling the Department of Education at 1-800-4-FED-AID (1-800-433-3243).

Suggestions for Completing the FAFSA

»Complete your federal income tax forms as early as possible. (If you are selected for verification by the federal government, you must submit signed tax forms for both the student and parents. A financial aid award cannot be processed without completion of all verification forms.)

»Have your completed tax forms accessible when filling out the FAFSA; you will need to refer to them.

»Fill out the FAFSA completely. If an income or asset question is not applicable to your family situation, enter a "0". Do not leave it blank; do not enter a dash; do not enter "n/a".

»Make sure that you indicate on the FAFSA form that Beloit College (code # 003835) is to receive the results of your processed FAFSA.

»If you are unsure how to answer a FAFSA question, call our Financial Aid Office (608-363-2500). We're happy to work with you to see that the form is completed correctly.

Deadlines and Annual Renewal

If you plan to apply for financial aid, you should do so when you apply for admission. Although there is no absolute deadline for applying for aid, you should file the necessary forms before March 1. It is to your advantage to apply for financial aid as early as possible.

Need-based financial aid is determined on an annual basis. Therefore, you and your family must file the Beloit College Financial Aid Application and the FAFSA each year. A student must be making satisfactory academic progress to continue receiving merit or need-based financial assistance from the College.
