News

Funding has been received from the United States Institute of Peace program in Public Education for Peacebuilding Support for a 5-part Human Rights Film Festival, with screenings to be held February 8 (State of Fear), February 15 (Blood in the Mobile), February 22 (The Gypsies of Svinia),  March 15 (Harvest of Empire), and March 22 (Missing Children, Who am I?).  Weissberg Scholar Hana Vackova took the lead in organizing the festival and drafting the successful funding proposal.

[Diego Garcia-Sayan]Diego Garcia-Sayan, former president of the Inter-American Court of Human Rights will serve as the 2012/13 Weissberg Chair. His residency will take place April 8 - 13, 2013 and will focus on Human Rights in Latin America: Transitional Justice and Rule of Law.

Vandana Shiva, an Indian philosopher, environmental activist, author and eco feminist, has been named as the 2013/14 Weissberg Chair.  Her residency will take place April 6-12, 2014 and will focus on the Right to Food.
