Academic Year Program

During the academic year, Upward Bound staff provide tutoring and advising services at target school sites. During the school day, UB staff are available to students for tutoring, appointments with teachers and counselors, advising, help with college applications and financial aid, and personal assistance.
After school, Upward Bound full-time staff are joined by Beloit College students who provide tutorial services. Tutors can assist students in a variety of subjects and are wonderful role models! Many UB tutors are also TRIO/Upward Bound alums.

The academic year also includes monthly MANDATORY seminars that allow UB students to focus on certain topics. Seminars helping students to prepare for the ACT, complete college applications, research careers, plan for college, and learn new computer application programs are offered this year.

Upward Bound works to provide the student with the support he or she needs to be successful. For some students this may come in the form of tutoring for their geometry class. For others, it may come in the form of taking a sample ACT test each week. The type of support depends on the needs of the student. Tutoring is provided to students Monday through Thursday at the local high schools and at Beloit College.
