The Upton Forum 2008

This fall, Beloit College welcomes Douglass North, co-recipient of the 1993 Nobel Memorial Prize in Economic Science and the Spencer T. Olin Professor in Arts and Sciences at Washington University.  Professor North will engage with students, faculty and the wider Beloit community from October 29-November 1, 2008. In describing his work, Professor North says that he has spent more than fifty years pondering complex variations of a simple question:  Why do some countries become rich, while others remain poor?  This question is at the heart of the Upton Forum.
