Beloit College Energy and Water Use

The Sustainability Fellows who are placed at the Beloit College Physical Plant will join Director Tom Viel in assessing the potential for improvements in water and energy use on campus. Fellows may evaluate the costs and benefits of installing a new sprinkler system at the Strong Stadium Complex to replace the current manually-operated water cannons, installing a new dish machine in Commons, replacing the heating and cooling systems in C-Haus, weatherizing student housing, replacing outdoor lights with LEDs, placing occupancy sensors in the Strong Stadium building, and/or collecting rainwater collection for irrigation at Strong Stadium. The 2014 fellows will extend the work of Sustainability Fellows Sierra Anseeuw (2010), Grace Kellogg (2010, 2011), and Isaac Bamgbose (2011), Logan Jacobson (2012), and Richea Smith (2012), Arianna Cocallas (2013), and Lydia Stensberg (2013) and examine new issues.
