Dan Bartlett,  Adjunct Assistant Professor of Museum Studies, Beloit College

[Dan Bartlett]Dan holds a B.F.A. from the University of Wisconsin-Superior and an M.A. in public history and museum studies from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Before coming to Beloit College, Dan was the curator of exhibits at Midway Village Museum in Rockford, Illinois, where, in addition to creating exhibits, he developed and presented programs, workshops, and lectures for children and adults. At the Logan Museum, Dan is responsible for developing new exhibits and educational programming. He teaches courses on exhibit design and development, and museum education in the museum studies program. Particular interests include using objects in formal and informal learning environments, and how people learn from museum exhibits. Dan also does freelance interpretive planning and exhibit development work for museums of all types.

Scott Espeseth,  Associate Professor of Art, Beloit College

[Scott Espeseth]Scott has been on the faculty of Beloit College since 2002 teaching all levels of drawing and printmaking. He has an extensive background in printmaking, having earned an MFA from the University of Wisconsin-Madison where he worked with storied print artists such as Frances Myers and Warrington Colescott. His work has since evolved to focus mainly on drawing, usually with commonplace media such as graphite pencils and ballpoint pen. His drawings have been described as “clairvoyant,” often depicting familiar spaces charged with a sense of dark presence, or other instances where planes of existence clash: the future sending messages to the past, memory intruding upon the present, or the subconscious bleeding into consciousness. Scott has had exhibitions extensively in the Midwest as well as nationally, and is represented by Dean Jensen Gallery in Milwaukee and SUGAR in Brooklyn, NY.

Chris Fink, Associate Professor of English, Beloit College

[Chris Fink 2013]Chris specializes in fiction writing and teaches courses in creative writing, literature and journalism. He serves as editor for the Beloit Fiction Journal and coordinates the Mackey Chair in Creative Writing. His book of stories Farmer’s Almanac is forthcoming in 2012 from Emergency Press. Since 2000, he has published more than twenty five stories and essays at various journals, including Alaska Quarterly Review, The Cream City Review, Hayden’s Ferry Review, Malahat Review North Dakota Quarterly, Other Voices, The Pinch, South Dakota Review and others.

He was a founding faculty member of the MFA program at San Jose State University, where he taught for five years and edited Reed Magazine. He is a recipient of the 2003 Silicon Valley Artist’s Grant, and founder of the John Steinbeck Award for the Short Story.

Nicolette Meister, Adjunct Assistant Professor of Museum Studies, Beloit College

[Nicolette Meister]Nicolette is the Curator of Collections of the Logan Museum of Anthropology and teaches in the Beloit College Museum Studies program. She is responsible for the care and management of the museum’s diverse collection of over 350,000 archaeological and cultural objects. Nicolette also serves as a Program Consultant and Instructor at the Campbell Center for Historic Preservation Studies. Prior to her arrival at Beloit in 1999 she worked at the Denver Art Museum and University of Colorado Museum of Natural History while she completed her M.S. in Museum and Field Studies at the University of Colorado at Boulder. Previous museum experience also includes the Milwaukee Public Museum and the Pitt Rivers Museum at Oxford University, Oxford, England. She holds a B.A. in anthropology from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.
