Summer Fields, formerly known as Summer LABS, is a for-credit residential summer program for rising high school juniors and seniors. But it is much more than that! It is a hands-on immersion into the liberal arts and sciences for students who seek to engage in their studies and apply their intellect and passion out in the world. For three weeks, students pursue rigorous academic study around one theme while living on campus with other high school students in the program. The program runs July 7 – July 26, 2013.

Each summer, Beloit College faculty members teach different courses. In summer of 2013, Beloit is offering three different Summer Fields course options. Though the courses are built around specific themes, these intensive  courses are unlike any you’ve taken before. They are, as we like to say at Beloit, about “discovery through practice”—that is, applying the lessons learned in books, lectures and discussions out in the world as historians, writers and artists.
