Student Employment (non-RA)
Other than the Resident Assistant position, there are a few other employment opportunities for students. Throughout the school year, the department hires a few office assistants, a storage coordinator, and other student support staff. During the summer, the department hires summer Resident Assistants and in conjunction with the Campus Center, summer conference workers.
The best way to apply for any of these positions is to stop by the office to pick up an application. You can also contact the staff through email or phone.
Summer Resident Assistants
Summer RAs do some of the same tasks as RAs during the year, but are more focused on the functional needs of residents. They work with the check-in and check-out processes, offer a small amount of programming, and communicate office information to the residents. Most summer RAs have full-time work and as compensation for their RA role, are given free room for the summer.
Summer Conference and Housing Assistant
During the summer, Beloit College hosts a number of groups who hold conferences and camps. The summer staff helps with set-up, tear-down, and overall operation of these groups. For example, they assist with check-in and check-out of these groups. This job sometimes requires heavy lifting and otherwise physical demands.
Academic Year Employment
The office assistants do a wide variety of tasks and work primarily with the Administrative Assistant. They may file paperwork, do data entry, or complete creative marketing materials for the office. The work is quite varied and changes from day to day.
Beloit College offers storage for residents in two large rooms. The storage coordinator runs these storage areas. This person sets hours during move-in and move-out times and is available throughout the semester to arrange times with students who need access. In addition to maintaining the storage system, the coordinator helps operate the microwave and refrigerator rental program.
