For further direction, information, and resources related to advising, students should consult the Academic Advising website.
Declare a major or minor
A student should obtain a Major/Minor Declaration Card (bright yellow color) from the Registrar's Office, consult with the appropriate faculty/department chairs, and return the signed card to the Registrar's Office.
A student may declare a major in any field of concentration offered by the College from the time of matriculation on; some departments and the interdisciplinary program also offer minors. She or he must declare a major no later than the time she or he elects courses for the fifth credit term.
Drop or add a major or minor
A student should obtain a Major/Minor Declaration Card (bright yellow color) from the Registrar's Office, consult with their new (or additional major) advisor as well as with their previous advisor (Initiatives or first major advisor), and return the signed card to the Registrar’s Office.
Each student is assigned a faculty advisor to assist with program planning, course selection, career choices, academic progress, and personal development. First-year students will have their first-year seminar leader as their advisor for their first two years. A student who declares a major also has an advisor from the major department.
Change an advisor
A student should obtain a Change of Advisor form in the Registrar’s Office, consult with the faculty member they wish to change to, and then turn in the signed form to the Registrar’s Office.
