World Affairs Center
Formerly a Carnegie library, this building was converted into the
Pettibone Center for World Affairs in 1962. Beloit College
is a founding member of the International 50 a consortium of the leading colleges
for preparing students for international service, diplomacy, and scholarship.
The College's Office of International Education is now situated in the
International
House, located at 717 College Street.
The World Affairs Center (WAC) serves as Beloit's classroom center
for international studies, and modern and classical language studies.
It is also home to a computer-based interactive
language laboratory.
In the summer, WAC houses Beloit's internationally respected Center
for Language Studies program, an intensive language program in
which students study less-commonly taught languages, including: Arabic, Chinese,
Japanese, and Russian. The
Center for Language Studies attracts a range of language-learners from
young scholars looking to enhance their undergraduate education, to
career professionals seeking training for overseas assignments. |
