Application Requirements

International First-Year Applicants

1. A Completed Common Application.

2. The Beloit College Supplement

Our writing supplement is the final component of the Common Application, also submitted online through the Common Application.

3. Official Transcripts of Secondary School Course Work*

Transcripts must list all courses taken and the grades received (if applicable), or results of post-secondary cumulative examinations (G.C.E., I.B., S.P.M., M.C.E., etc.)

Transcripts and examinations must be in English and submitted through Common Application or directly to Beloit College by the school, examination board, or certified translator.

4. Secondary School Report Form*

A completed Secondary School Report must be submitted by the appropriate school official.

5. Teacher Letter of Recommendation*

One teacher recommendation is required, preferably by someone who has taught you within the last year.

6. Standardized Examinations

Students whose first language is not English must submit the results of the TOEFL, the IELTS, or for students from Japan, the STEP EIKEN. If a student’s first language is English, or his/her language of instruction for at least four years has been English, s/he may submit scores from the SAT Reasoning Test or ACT.

The minimum scores required for admission consideration are TOEFL - 80 iBT, 550 paper-based, IELTS - 6.5, and STEP EIKEN - Grade Pre-1. SAT and ACT scores are evaluated on a case-by-case basis.

7. The College Board CSS Profile

International students applying for financial aid must complete the CSS Profile and identify Beloit College (CSS code 1059) as a recipient of the results.  The CSS Profile must be completed and submitted by the application deadline under which you are applying. 

Students living in Benin, Cameroon, Ghana, Nigeria, Togo, Cuba, Iran, North Korea, and Sudan should complete the CSS International Student Financial Aid Application in full and return directly to the admissions office at Beloit College by email ( or fax (608-363-2075).

[EducationUSA]EducationUSA centers are the U.S. State Department‘s network of hundreds of advising centers in 170 countries designed to assist local students find the appropriate college or university in the United States. Students with access to an EducationUSA center will find advisors available to help applicants complete these forms.

8. Beloit College Declaration of Finances

International students not applying for financial aid must complete the Beloit College Declaration of Finances.

Optional Components

Students may submit samples of creative work or composition (poetry, photography, art, music recordings, research, etc). Digital files may be uploaded through Beloit's online applicant portal after your Common Application has been processed.  If you choose to send physical media, please send only copies, slides or photographs of originals to the Office of Admissions, Attn: Creative Supplement.

*NOTE: It is our expectation that students apply online through the Common Application, however, we will accept any or all of your supporting materials online, by mail, by fax (608.363.2075), or scanned and sent in PDF format to
