Study Abroad Programs
Fall or spring (southern hemisphere calendar)
Prereqs: 2.5 gpa, 3.0 for internship; previous coursework in field to qualify for advanced courses.
Housing: On campus residence halls/off-campus apartments, students provide own meals.
Details: Study with local students; many courses in mathematics including logic, nonlinear dynamics and chaos, waves, geometry and topology, methods, differential equations and statistics; orientation and a guide to Sydney on line; internships possible, volunteer opportunities available.
Language: English, Hungarian language optional at additional cost before start of program
Prereqs: Junior or senior standing preferred, 3.33 gpa, previous study in field, advanced calculus or theory course in analytical or abstract algebra
Housing: Apartment with other participants or host family; students provide own meals.
Details: Mathematics courses taught by eminent Hungarian scholar-teachers; students take a combination of math and cultural courses; normal load is 4 courses; math courses include combinatorics, conjecture and proof, and theory of computing; students sample many courses, then select courses in which they will enroll; option to take course not listed; emphasis on problem solving and student creativity; orientation.
Fall, spring (fall semester starts end of July)
Language: English, with language study in most Indian languages.
Prereqs: junior or senior standing, 3.0 gpa; previous coursework relative to the understanding of India, courses in mathematics.
Housing: Single or double room on-campus, shared bath; meal plan.
Details: One of India’s newest, smallest (2000 students) and best-equipped university campuses; study with Indian and international students; strong mathematics and engineering sciences; courses in Sanskrit as well as directed field studies offer opportunities to explore this historic and changing nexus of Islam and Hinduism; orientation, access to campus sports and cultural programs.
Prereqs: one semester of both advanced calculus and linear algebra.
Housing: Student hostel; meals purchased on your own.
Description: modern, research-oriented curriculum in elementary, intermediate and advanced levels of mathematics; highly qualified professors, with sufficient teaching experience in English; comfortable modern university building in Moscow's historic center, with all the necessary facilities (library, e-mail, Internet, copiers, inexpensive cafeteria on the premises);
Prereqs: 3.0 cumulative gpa and in the major; senior standing preferred, juniors considered; major in biology, chemistry, computer science, physics or social sciences.
Housing: Shared single bedroom apartment; students provide own meals.
Details: Program focus on national and global energy and environmental issues; students earn academic credit for research in ongoing investigations guided by a mentor; interdisciplinary seminar course, advanced course options; guest speakers, departmental colloquia.
