Scholarships
Scholarships can help defray the cost of study abroad, support independent projects and language study, and provide opportunities for further study and research following graduation.
Defray study abroad costs
- American Swedish Institute Scholarships For U.S. Students with a demonstrated interest in Sweden. Strict eligibility requirements.
- American Women's Club Stockholm Travel Fund For American citizens (men and women) who have been accepted for study abroad or research at a Swedish educational institute.
- Boren Scholarships To study abroad in countries where less-commonly taught languages are spoken. Post-graduation Service requirement. Eligibility: U.S. citizenship. Study abroad must take place before graduation.
- CIEE Travel Grants and other Scholarships To attend CIEE programs as well as travel and work abroad.
- DAAD Undergraduate Scholarship Program to study, conduct research, or complete internships in Germany during the academic year.
- European opportunities. Database of scholarships for study in Europe.
- FIPSE Scholarship for participation in ACM Brazil program.
- Foundation for Global Scholars Foundation Scholarships For U.S. or Canadian citizens. Average award $1000.
- Freeman-ASIA Scholarships for U.S. undergraduates with demonstrated financial need who plan to study abroad in East or Southeast Asia.
- Fund for Education Abroad Scholarships Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
- Gilman Scholarship and Gilman Critical Need Language Supplement To support study abroad. Eligibility: U.S. citizenship; financial need as indicated by receipt of a Pell Grant. October and April deadlines.
- Global Studies Foundation Student Grants For U.S. citizens. Must share your experience with others upon return (through presentations videos, info sessions, etc.). Preference for strategically important countries and languages.
- Go Overseas Study Abroad Scholarship Open to international and U.S. students. Scholarship must be used to cover tuition and fees.
- Gudrun Gytel Fund Scholarships For U.S. citizens studying in Denmark.
- IES Merit Scholarships Merit scholarships To attend IES study abroad programs.
- IES Need-Based financial aid To attend IES study abroad programs.
- JASSO (Japan Student Services Organization) Supports travel and living costs for study in Japan
- LIVFund Scholarships For students planning to learn, intern, or volunteer abroad in Latin America. Must post at least three blog entries during your time abroad.
- Rotary Ambassadorial Scholarships For year-long study at a university abroad.
- Sarah's Wish Foundation Scholarships For U.S. women with a commitment to public service and the Sarah's Wish Foundation mission.
- SASS Sweden Travel Grant Scholarships to study or pursue research on Swedish literature, culture or social sciences.
- Sons of Norway Foundation King Olav V Norwegian-American Heritage Fund Scholarships for U.S. citizens who plan to explore their interest in Norwegian heritage or modern Norway
- SIT Study Abroad Scholarships To attend SIT programs.
- Study & Internship Program (SIP) To study applied science in Germany for one semester and complete a professional internship at a company or research institute over a second semester.
- TCA Scholarship for Armenian American Students For Armenian American students to study abroad in Turkey or the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus
- TCA Scholarship for Minority Students For African American, Hispanic/Latino, and Native American students who plan to study abroad in Turkey, the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, or Bosnia and Herzegovina
- US-Japan Bridging Project Scholars. Supports study abroad in Japan for U.S. citizens and permanent residents.
- Beloit College Travel scholarships. Class of 2008 scholarship, John and Sally Burris Scholarship, the Ivan and Janice Stone Trust, Schroeder scholarship. Eligibility: admission to an off-campus study program, financial need. No application required; students with financial aid are automatically considered.

Laura W. Bush Traveling Fellowship To conduct brief work in a foreign country to help advance the goals of UNESCO.
