Host Family Program

The following email messages have been sent to all new international students:

Dear New Students,

I am sending the following message to you on behalf of the Coordinator of the Host Family Program at Beloit College.  If you do not wish to have a host family, please let me know but I encourage you to participate in this program as many students have thought it to be one of the best aspects of their Beloit experience.  If you like, you can go to youtube: here and hear about what Xueqi Gao (an International Abassador who will help you during orientation) has to say about the host family program.  The other international student videos are: Knut Storvik, Ilija Bojovic, and Arnela Skrijelj.

Please note: you do NOT live with your host family, you arrange times to meet one another.  Please let me know if you would like me to give your e-mail to your host family.

Dear Student,

Hello, I am Phyllis Wendorf, and my husband Al  and I are the volunteer coordinators of the Host Family Program at Beloit College.

This voluntary program was originated by a Beloit College International Student, and gives every international student the wonderful opportunity to have a local host family. Host families are very interested in international students and welcome them into their homes.

This is an opportunity for you to experience our American culture, and for the host families to learn about your culture. Host families try to help out their host students by taking them shopping, having them over for dinner, watching movies and celebrating some of our American holidays.

I will be assigning host families to all new international students in the next few weeks. We hope this will be just one of the great experiences you have in Beloit, and that you will take these memories back home with you and share them with your family and friends. If you are not interested in having a host family, please advise us of that.

We as host parents are anxiously awaiting your arrival at Beloit College for the spring semester of the 2010-2011 school year.

Best Regards,

Phyllis and Al Wendorf
