Host Family Program

Dear New Students,

The Host Family Program at Beloit College is a program to foster friendships between international students and local families. Started by a Beloit College international student in 1991, it is a wonderful opportunity to learn about American culture and share your backgrounds and cultures with others.

It is a free and optional program but there are expectations that you communicate with your host family regularly (ex. once a month) and respond to their e-mails and calls in a timely manner. Participants are limited to how many host families are available.

I encourage you to participate in this program as many students have thought it to be one of the best aspects of their Beloit experience. If you like, you can go to youtube: and hear about what Xueqi Gao has to say about the host family program.

Please note: you do NOT live with your host family, you arrange times to meet one another. Please let me know if you would like me to give your e-mail to your host family. I will be assigning host families to all new entering international students this summer. If you DO wish to have a host family, you must let me know by e-mail by January 5th. In your e-mail, please write a short paragraph (3-5 sentences) that includes something about yourself and why you would like a host family.

If you have any questions about the program, please let me know.
