Host Family Program
The Host Family Program at Beloit College is a program to foster friendships between international students and local families. Started by a Beloit College international student in 1991, it is a wonderful opportunity to learn about American culture and share your backgrounds and cultures with others.
It is a free and optional program but there are expectations that you will communicate with your host family regularly (ex. once a month) and respond to their e-mails and calls in a timely manner. Participants are limited to how many host families are available.
Many students have said this is one of the best aspects of their Beloit experience. If you like, you can hear what Xueqi Gao (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iKcgo8DaJPo&feature=channel) has to say about the host family program.
Please note: you do NOT live with your host family, you simply arrange times to meet one another.
If you DO wish to have a host family, you can email Shannon Jolly (firstname.lastname@example.org) by July 15th. In your e-mail, please write a short paragraph (3-5 sentences) that includes something about yourself and why you would like a host family.
If you have any questions contact Shannon.
