Once Upon a Time ... is Now: Storytelling from Jamaica with Amina Blackwood-Meeks
Amina Blackwood-Meeks is a renowned Jamaican story teller who weaves contemporary politics and culture into her work in order to demonstrate the value of culture and the performing arts to human development and economic prosperity. Described by Caribbean theatre luminary Ken Corsbie as "an outrageous combination of glitz and thoughtfulness, of education and entertainment," she employs empowerment methodology in story telling workshops and research. Reception at 6 pm, featuring hors-d'oevres from The Cheese People of Beloit!
