INTRODUCTION

Responsible for study abroad and domestic off-campus studies, international student advising and services, and supports for the College's extensive range of international activities, the Office of International Education is Beloit College's central administrative office for international education.

In the 45 years since an international office was established, more than 3,800 Beloit students have participated in study abroad programs in more than 50 countries. During this same period more than 2,800 international students from more than 120 countries have studied at Beloit College, bringing their international perspectives and experience to the classrooms, residence halls, and extracurricular activities. This cross-cultural sharing is an essential part of the international focus of the Beloit College community and curriculum.

Today about 45% of each graduating class will have studied abroad for a semester or year and 7% of the student body is composed of international students. The College hopes to increase study abroad enrollments to over 50% and international student enrollments to at least 10%.

Activities of the Office of International Education include:

  • Off-campus program advising for students interested in domestic and study abroad opportunities
  • International student advising and services
  • Collaboration with faculty for curriculum development
  • Development of co-curricular activities promoting international education
  • Sponsorship of international visiting and exchange scholars
  • Host Family program for international students
  • Support for the International Club and cooperation with other student organizations

The Office is advised by the faculty/student Committee on International Education, and houses the office of the English as a Second Language instructor.
