Luke Somers'08 Memorial Fund
Beloit College and its Office of International Education were enormously saddened to learn of the death of Luke Somers'08 in Yemen on Saturday, December 13.  Luke had gone to Yemen to teach English, and quickly began working as a photo-journalist.  He had long had an interest in bringing the lives of Yemenis to light in the West.

In honor of Luke's memory as well as his commitment to understanding the lives of others, a Luke Somers'08 Memorial Fund has been created to provide financial assistance to provide scholarship supports for study abroad students. Preference will be given to students with interest in the Middle East. Donations can be made via https://connect.beloit.edu/development/somers-memorial-gift-one-time

To further honor Luke's Memory, the Office of International Education's annual study abroad photo contest will also be held in his name.
