Join the Beloit College Environmental Studies and geology departments for a public talk by Sheldon Turner, a 2008 Beloit College graduate and Ph.D. candidate in Michigan State Environmental Science and Policy Program, as he give a lecture titled "Helping Non-Scientists Make Environmental Decisions: The Effectiveness of Different Visualizations."  

Scientists use a wide variety of visualizations to communicate with one another, instruct students, and disseminate to stakeholders and the public. This is especially true in complex systems such as those operating in environmental science. This research tests the effectiveness of different types of visuals for communicating scientific information. Methods include interactive role-play interviews, eye-tracking, and social network analysis.
