Laurie Stickelmaier has been named the new vice president for finance and planning and treasurer at Beloit College. She succeeds John Nicholas, who retired this month after 18 years of service.

Two students who graduated on Sunday (May 12) have been awarded Fulbright U.S. Student Program grants for the 2013-2014 academic year.

Ben Mielke'14 of Maplewood, Minn., has been awarded the 2013 Kirtlandia Society Research Internship in Physical Anthropology.

The 163rd Commencement ceremony is over and the 305 graduates are ready to embark on their new lives and start fulfilling careers. 

Beloit, Wis. – In a ceremony boasting U.S. Sen. Tammy Baldwin (D-Wis.), Timothy the Turtle, and plenty of proud moms celebrating Mother’s Day, the 305 members of Beloit College’s class of 2013 received their degrees. The 163^rd commencement exercises took place under sunny skies on the lawn between the college’s iconic administration building, Middle College, and a half-dozen ancient Indian mounds.

Assistant Biology Professor Amy Briggs studies plant immunity, but she also trains her keen scientist’s eye on a project a little closer to home, using her own classroom as a lab in more ways than one—including researching teaching methods.

Cecily Murphy Majerus’80 was elected to the college’s board of trustees at its April meeting. She will serve a three-year period expiring in 2016.

The Beloit College board of trustees approved on Saturday (April 27) the promotion of four faculty members to full professor.
