The Beloit College board of trustees approved on Friday the promotion of Chris Johnson from associate professor of theatre arts (dance) to full professor.
A faculty member at Beloit since 1991, Johnson received the James R. Underkofler Award for Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching in 2002. That same year her dance, Wreath of Memories, was performed by special invitation at the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington, D.C. Her work, as well as her students’ work, has been regularly selected for the gala concerts at the American College Dance Festival Association regional festivals.
Johnson earned her bachelor’s degree from Luther College, her master’s degree from California State University-Sacramento, and her master of fine arts degree from the University of Illinois-Urbana. She also has a graduate level certificate in Laban Movement Analysis from Columbia College in Chicago.
