An alumnus with over 40 years of experience as an executive leader, entrepreneur and private investor will join the ranks of the college’s board of trustees when it convenes for its spring meeting in April. Bill Boyd’63 was recently elected to the board where he will serve a three-year term expiring in 2015.
Boyd is the chairman of the board of Agility Recovery Solutions, a leading provider of business continuity and disaster recovery services located in Charlotte, N.C. His executive experience includes service as chairman and/or CEO of a variety of leading companies such as Muzak (the world’s largest audio architecture firm), Broadcast International (a broadband distribution and video compression technology company), ScentAir (the world’s largest provider of on-location, scent-based marketing solutions), and iVerify (a leader in virtual security services.)
Boyd is also a partner in Salem Investment Partners, a $150 million mezzanine fund that provides investment capital to lower middle-market companies located in North Carolina. Additionally, he serves on the Advisory Board of Ironwood Partners in New York City and Driehaus Private Equity Fund in Chicago.
Boyd serves as an Executive in Residence at the McColl School of Business at Queens University, and is a frequent lecturer at Beloit College, Davidson University and most recently lectured at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business.
In 2001, Boyd was a recipient of the regional Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award. He is currently a member of the selection committee for the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award and serves at the national and regional levels of that process.
