The Second Summer Research Experience is a time for McNair Scholars to venture out of Beloit College and conduct research at another university. Common programs to apply to are Summer Research Opportunities Program (SROP), Summer Research Early Identification Program (SR-EIP), and the Smithsonian Minority Awards Program. Many opportunities for research in the sciences, including political and social science, are available through the National Science Foundation. There are a number of universities throughout the country that offer summer undergraduate research programs outside of these programs. A quick Google search will reveal them.
There is a second summer resource binder in the McNair office for scholars to browse some programs. Here is a link to a Google Document with links to resources, but be aware of programs being canceled over the years.
For our Scholars, to the right are links for different forms that will be needed for your second summer research experience.
