Lino Black-on-Gray - CA. 550-850
This is one of two types of pottery made by the Basket Makers, the other being the undecorated Lino Gray. Lino Black-on-Gray is made from a course gray clay tempered with sand, which often protrudes beyond the surface giving the bowl a rough interior finish. Decoration is simple but carefully painted, often derived from basket or textile patterns.
