Such blankets are woven by women based on design drawn out by men on pattern boards. This particular pattern is the killer whale crest design. These blankets were worn by people of high rank, and were traded widely.

This ceremonial hat may have been worn by a chief, the painted motifs being typical of the Tlingit.

Tlingit baskets, like their Alaskan counterparts, are constructed of tiny stitches - as many as 30 to the inch. Often the lid handles have contain seeds or small stones and serve as rattles.
