Early Europe

The following list includes all of the time periods in Europe represented in the Logan Museum Collections.


Upper Paleolithic
The European Paleolithic Age dates from 450,000 BC until 8,000 BC. It was at this time that man was becoming more and more interested in the development and use of stone tool. Artifacts from Paleolithic Europe have now been incorporated into a new online exhibition.

Bronze Age
The European Bronze Age dates from 2000 BC until 1200 BC. It was at this time that European cultures were becoming more and more interested in the development and use of metals. Artifacts from Bronze Age Europe have now been incorporated into a new online exhibition.

Iron Age
The European Iron Age extended from about 1200 BC to the beginning of the Roman Empire around 30 BC. Artifacts from Iron Age Europe have now been incorporated into a new online exhibition.

Classical Mediterranean
The cultures of the Classical Mediterranean include the Greeks and Romans, and their influences in Europe, the Near East and Africa between about 1000 BCE and 400 AD. 

The Logan Museum has a number of small objects from the Classical Mediterranean, the larger objects being housed in the Wright Museum of Art.
