Pinedale Polychrome developed in the area around Pinedale, along the Mogollon Rim in east-central Arizona. Made from a gray clay tempered with ground potsherds, they have a red to red-orange slip. Bowls are the most common vessel type, decorated with fine-line geometric decoration in black on the interior, and with black motifs framed in white on the exterior. Pinedale Polychrome appears to be related to St. John's Polychrome and Tularosa Black-on-White.
