Access to Collections
The Logan Museum of Anthropology grants access to its collections and archives to: Beloit College faculty and students, researchers from anthropology and related disciplines from outside the College, and members of groups whose traditional culture is represented by the collections held by the Museum. The Museum also grants loans of collection items to bona fide academic and cultural institutions.
Those requesting access to the collections or archives from outside the College community must schedule an appointment. Appointments are scheduled by the Curator of Collections upon receipt of a written statement of loan or research objective, which should specify the collection items being requested for loan or the duration for visit required. Research or loan requests may be sent by fax, e-mail, or regular mail. Requests that involve the loan of collection items, destructive analysis, or the publication of original photography or photographs from the Museum's collection require separate consideration and are subject to specific policies.
Requests to conduct destructive analysis require the submission of a detailed proposal of the methodology, rational for destructive sampling, list of objects to be sampled, and the qualifications of the principal investigator. Requests to publish photographs from the museum's collection or for original photography require separate consideration and are subject to submission of the application form under Rights & Reproduction.
