Guest Password Representatives

Open Wireless Network
Encrypted Wireless Access (All locations)

Supported guests of Beloit College are able to connect to the Beloit College network either wired or wirelessly. Guests should refer to the college Policy on Computers Connected to the Beloit College Network prior to connecting. 

This policy requires that all computers connected to the Beloit College network have up-to-date virus software installed and operating system software current with the latest security-related patches from the vendor.  As a guest to the Beloit College Network you are responsible for adhering to all college and Information Services and Resources (ISR) policies

The college reserves the right to block or suspend network access to vulnerable or infected computers to preserve the integrity of network operations. Please refer to the college's Ethical Use of Computing and Information Resources and Privileges policy for more information.


Guest Password Representatives
Guest users of Beloit College's network must sign in using a user name and password provided by an authorized college representative who is sponsoring the guest.  The following departments have a representative with access to the guest password:

Admissions (Middle College)
Alumni Affairs (613 College Street)
Center for the Sciences
Hendricks Center for the Arts (409 Pleasant Street)
Information Services & Resources (Library and Information Technology (IT))
Residence Life/Campus Center (2nd Floor, Pearson's Hall)

Guest Password Representatives MUST adhere to these procedures when granting guest access to the Beloit College network.


Wired Access (All campus locations)

  1. Retrieve your guest password from an authorized college representative
  2. Plug your computer into a network jack
  3. Open a web browser to a website other than http://www.beloit.edu
  4. Enter the provided user name and password at the bottom of the Registration screen
  5. You are now successfully connected to the Beloit College wired network for web browsing


Open Wireless Network (BCGuest)

  1. Retrieve the guest password from an authorized college representative
  2. Open your available wireless networks and connect to the BCGuest network
  3. Open a web browser
  4. Enter the provided user name and password on the Network Login screen
  5. You are now successfully connected to the Beloit College netguest network for web browsing

Please note that the open wireless network is unsecured so it is recommended that you use SSL for transmitting sensitive information.  Read more about Using SSL.


Encrypted Wireless Access (All locations)
Guest users of Beloit College's BCNet wireless network must sign in using the same user name and password that is provided for the wired network. It is recommended that the wired network be used when possible, as configuration for the wireless network for guests can sometimes be complex.

  1. Retrieve the guest password from an authorized college representative
  2. Configure your wireless card to connect to the BCNet wireless network; visit our wireless page for instructions.  Click the appropriate link for your operating system or bring your computer to IT in Mayer Hall for assistance
  3. A wireless prompt should appear as you attempt to connect to the BCNet wireless network (unless you've already entered credentials in the configuration)
  4. Enter the guest user name and password provided to you
  5. Open a web browser 
  6. If prompted, enter the guest user name and password on the Registration screen
  7. You are now successfully connected to the Beloit College BCNet wireless network for web browsing
